Matt Schoenfeld
Wealth Advisor
My focus is on building robust portfolios that align with our clients’ long-term financial
goals.
I’ve been providing financial education for more than 30 years in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors and I’m excited to be launching my practice in a way that better serves the unique needs of my clients. My business partners and I love serving those who serve!
Thanks to some friends I sort of stumbled into becoming a financial advisor, but immediately after beginning my career in financial advising and coaching, I knew beyond all doubt that this is the reason I was put on this earth – to help others with their money. I have found that my role is that of a financial life coach. Because money touches all aspects of our lives, I advise on so much more than just investments, insurance, and wealth strategies. I have the privilege of walking through all the ups and downs of life, helping my clients enrich their lives as they work towards their goals. It is a rich and rewarding journey.
We start our planning process with your goals and motivations, build a plan curated to your needs and your lifestyle, and tie everything back to your personal values to guide us along the way. I enjoy helping clients to improve their relationship with money and to help them make decisions about their finances that align with what is important to them. The theme of my life has been to educate others about money. Other than maybe KU basketball, it is my #1 passion!
Unfortunately, it’s not something that is widely addressed in schools, spiritual communities, or families. Money is always such a taboo subject so, I’ve devoted my career to helping my clients develop a healthy knowledge of money and being their partner to make challenging and rewarding decisions that involve money.
Some of my best clients are healthcare professionals, and other servant leaders within our community. They are constantly working to take care of others and my team sees it as our responsibility to take care of them. Most clients have limited time and attention to give to a financial plan and that’s why they entrust us with the creation and implementation of their money decisions.
I also don’t think finances should be complicated. There are many complexities involved in investing, product-specific information, and industry jargon, but the foundation is very simple. I educate my clients about five key principles :
- Plan for the future
- Enjoy what you have but avoid materialism
- Live within your means
- Use a spending plan
Give generously
Allowing these five ideas to lay the groundwork for our counsel, we can create a plan for any financial demographic, no matter how complex. My hope is that the clients who work with me feel confident in their plans to get to and through a well-planned and prosperous retirement.
When I’m not helping clients, I can be found snow skiing with my adult kids, working out, fishing, watching KU Basketball or reading the latest mystery novel.
